From the back cover

The desert heat swirled around as I stepped off the airplane in Beirut. The heat should have made me sweat but I still couldn't stop shivering. Rome had been colder, but that wasn't why I felt so cold. No, I was here to get my children back from their father who’d kidnapped them and brought them here, halfway round the world. How had it come to this?

Loreen’s childhood on a farm in central Alberta, Canada could not prepare her for the years of struggle for safety and freedom that would soon come. This is a heart wrenching story beyond cultural differences and love affairs gone wrong.

From the end of the story

When you lose your children as I did, your world feels as though it has ended, and yet people are still going on living. People often tell me that they don’t know how I did it. To be perfectly honest, I don’t know either! The way I see it, I didn’t really have a choice in the matter. I am a survivor. I did what I had to do, and I would do it again.

What’s important is not what happens to you, rather how you deal with it and what you gain from it. The greatest revenge is in the accomplishment you can have. Make a success out of your life. I have had two knee replacements and am waiting to have a hip replacement. God’s not finished with me yet. Right now I have to structure my life around healing myself. It is now my life to control. I don’t think that I’ll ever forget, but prefer to keep my eyes on the future, putting all of it behind me.
Everyone has a story to tell. Everyone has something that has happened to them. Some stories may not be as dramatic as mine but they all have something that has profoundly affected them.

If I have learned one thing, its that there are no shortcuts in life and there is no sense in being dishonest. Ultimately the truth will win out.

Through the telling of my story, I hope that I haven’t offended anyone and if I have, I apologize. That was not my intention. I have sought to tell the truth and through it to be free.
